The excitement and heartfelt gratitude for finally being able to get married is what stood out to me the most from Miren & Michelle’s wedding. Unlike the typical Hindu wedding celebration, Miren and Michelle were on a mission to do theirs in one day. It was a long day packed with such a broad range of emotions, from stillness and anticipation to uncontrollable excitement and tears.
To have a Hindu ceremony or a Catholic ceremony? Why not both? And that's what Venoth and Ann did on the weekend of their wedding celebration. Their film not only tells their story but demonstrates how they weave together the two cultural identities that they bring to their marriage.
This past weekend we took part in the epic finale of Miren and Michelle’s courtship and their new beginning, with drums, dance, laughter and tears in many cycles throughout! What a great way to end the season! Here’s a sneak peek!
Never thought I would shoot a Hindu and Catholic ceremony in the same weekend… for the same couple! We experienced this unique combo at Venoth and Ann’s celebration this past weekend. Here’s a quick sneak peek!
Jamaal and Alisha are definitely our most memorable long distance couple of 2017. Alisha represents Toronto in this relationship, but after their union, she moves to Atlanta to be with her sweet heart, Jamaal. With the strong bolds of these families, I feel for her family as they send her off BUT it makes so much sense with the way Jamaal and Alisha are perfect for one another.
We start our Friday at Alisha’s house and Jamaal’s aunt’s respectively. We did our usual prep work but, for the first time, I got to capture some Henna touch-ups. This was done the night before, as is tradition for a Nikkah (muslim wedding), but sometimes a girl needs her touch-ups! Jamaal sees his bride for the first time as she is walked down the aisle by her brother and father at Agnus Glen Golf Club. It was beautiful.
We presented our first Aperture Lane Next-day Edit for Shehan & Haseena's wedding this past spring. It was quite the rollercoaster ride but we made it happen! For those of you who are not current with the lingo, the "Next-Day Edit" is a film that we present on the day after the event itself was shot. You'll typically find this kind of video at events (especially weddings) that span over multiple days. Wedding couples in particular like to have a Next-Day edit to help guests absent from the previous day(s) to understand what they missed and feel more involved.
Ryan Walters, the founder and operator of Aperture Lane. Look forward to sharing great stories with you!
